After you and your doctor have decided to have your tubes evaluated, here's what you can expect.
Find out if a FemVue Sono HSG is right for you.
Scheduling Your FemVue Sono HSG
Your procedure will be performed during the first half of your menstrual cycle, before you ovulate. This will ensure that you are not pregnant and allow you to attempt conception during the rest of the month. Contact your physician's office on the first day of your menstrual cycle to schedule the procedure.
Preparing for the Procedure
Your doctor may advise you to take an anti-inflammatory medicine, such as Motrin or Advil, approximately 1 hour prior to the procedure in order to minimize any discomfort. Some women experience mild cramping when undergoing an HSG procedure.
During the Procedure
The FemVue Sono HSG is performed in your doctor's office using ultrasound and usually takes less than 15 minutes.
Getting Your Results
Your doctor may discuss the results of the test with you during or after completing the procedure.
If your tubes require further evaluation, your doctor may recommend additional testing such as a repeat Sono HSG, an X-Ray HSG, or laparoscopy.
